The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) will hold a meeting regarding Lake Calhoun Thursday November 5 at Lyndale Farmstead Park, 3900 Bryant Ave S, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Commissioners Bob Fine and Tracy Nordstrom, along with park staff, wish to hear from groups that currently use and / or have an interest in the lake and its environs.
The meeting will offer the lake’s users and stewards—everyone from wind surfers and yacht club members to neighborhood residents and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources—an opportunity to connect with other lake users and stewards and to share information about emerging trends. Park staff will also provide the larger context, offering information on the lake’s history, the current master plan, funding and finances, and its place in the regional park system.
No funding is currently in the pipeline for improvements to Lake Calhoun. Information shared by participants will be included in the public record for the lake and used in future planning. For further information, call 612-230-6464 or email jringold@minneapolisparks.org.
